↞ GILDED TIDES NAME GUIDE ↠
Gilded Tides takes place in a undisclosed lakeside location. Because of this, we're allowing more prefixes and more suffixes than any other previous roleplay!
NAMING YOUR CHARACTER
Naming your character can be a hard task, especially if you're not sure what personality and look you're going for. But worry not, we're here to help! Here are some things to consider when preparing a name for your character!
PREFIXES
At birth, kits are typically named based upon appearance and/or location of relevance to the couple or birthplace. For example, naming a tabby kitten Tigerkit, and so on. However, there are uncommon practices that some couples use, as in waiting a few days to name their kits in order to name them after their personalities. Like naming your kitten Tumblekit, because they're clumsy, or Pluckykit, for their bravery. On another occasion, kits can be named based on their size, such as Tallkit or Heavykit. Physical renames are the rarest, and usually a result of a traumatic event.
The prefixes River-, Shadow-, Sky-, Thunder-, and Wind- are viable prefixes in this roleplay, however a kit cannot be directly named after a clan. For example, Thunderkit may have been born during a thunderstorm, or Riverkit by a river. Prefixes must have meaning in reference to pelt color/pattern, location of birth, or personality.
SUFFIXES
Suffixes are chosen by the leader, with advisement from the apprentice's mentor (and the apprentice's user, of course). Suffixes are chosen based on appearance, skill, and personality. Occasionally, cats can be given a name based on folklore, primarily being named after animals or other wildlife.
BANNED PREFIXES
Some prefixes are not accepted here in Gilded Tides, such as the following:
• Dolphin
• Shark
• Blood
• Ghost
• Death
• Rot
Unacceptable prefixes pertain to oceanic life. If you have questions about a prefix, please ask a staff member! Approved prefixes in the roleplay will be added onto the list.
If you have any questions regarding prefixes/suffixes and if they'd be allowed, please feel free to DM a staff member! Alternatively, if it isn't on this list please ask a staff member to add it to this list.
